General: Affordable Apple’s laptops, of which two 13-inch models are now available. Being smaller than a usual laptop, the MacBook Air is well suited for people who appreciate  convenient and versatile appliances.

The moderate price also attracts budgets conscious people, so the device looks ideal for students and professionals with unsettled work style.

Specifications:  The two models are supplied with a 1.8GHz dual-core Core i5 (Broadwell) processor, a RAM of 8GB and have integrated Intel HD Graphics 6000. Announced battery life for both wireless web and iTunes is 12 hours.

The models differ in storage capacity. Actually the difference in storage is the factor that determines the price difference. The $999 model has 128GB of flash storage. The $1,199 model has 256GB. A shortcoming is that storage capacity can’t be easily upgraded.

Connectivity: Both models have a built-in Wi-Fi for connecting to a network and a built-in Bluetooth to connect peripherals. For  connecting to ethernet network, a USB ethernet Adapter is needed. As a high-speed connector, the laptop uses Thunderbolt 2. Two USB 3.0 ports are compatible with USB 2.0 devices. However, for working with a FireWire 800 drive, a Thunderbolt-to-FireWire Adapter is needed.

Speed: The MacBook Air has a speed sufficient to cope with everyday job, such as handling email, web browsing, and using common office applications. Capable to edit even short videos and JPEGs from iPhone or point-and-shoot camera.

Conclusion: A smart affordable laptop well suited for mobile users.

The model only has one USB-C port to connect peripherals. For Ethernet connection, the user needs USB-C to USB Adapter and the USB ethernet Adapter. HDMI display as well as USB devices can be connected through USB-C Digital AV Multiport Adapter. And for a VGA display, the USB-C VGA Multiport Adapter is needed.
